Twin Peaks Pink Triangle Volunteer Installation Begins June 6
Volunteers are expected to gather on Twin Peaks to help assemble the large hillside symbol, one of San Francisco’s most visible Pride Month landmarks.
Public volunteer guidance lists the installation window from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM PDT on Saturday, June 6, 2026. A dedication ceremony is scheduled around 10:30 AM PDT at Twin Peaks.
Organizers have directed people interested in helping with the project to sign up through ThePinkTriangle.com. Volunteer work includes preparing and placing the materials that form the triangle on the hilltop site.
Why the San Francisco Pink Triangle Matters
The Pink Triangle has a painful historical origin. It was used by the Nazi regime to identify and persecute LGBTQ people, especially gay men, during a period of state-backed violence and dehumanization.
In later decades, LGBTQ activists reclaimed the symbol and transformed it into a public sign of remembrance, resistance, solidarity and pride.
The annual Twin Peaks display connects San Francisco’s Pride Month celebrations with the broader history of queer visibility, civil rights and public remembrance.
Pride Month Symbol Above San Francisco
The Twin Peaks location gives the Pink Triangle a strong public presence above the city. For residents and visitors, the display serves as both a memorial and a message of support for LGBTQ communities.
The installation remains important because it links celebration with history. It reminds the public that symbols can be reclaimed, persecution must be remembered and visibility remains central to the fight for equality.
