Senior YSR Congress Party leader Ambati Rambabu has once again found himself at the center of controversy, with police reports confirming that as many as 16 criminal cases have been registered against him. The cases are reportedly linked to repeated incidents involving abusive language, provocative public statements, and actions that authorities believe could disturb social harmony in Andhra Pradesh. Rambabu has long been known for his aggressive verbal attacks against political opponents, particularly Telugu Desam Party leaders and supporters.
The latest incident drew widespread attention after Rambabu allegedly used highly objectionable and unparliamentary language while addressing a gathering, targeting TDP supporters and senior party leaders including Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. Following this episode, the Nallapadu police registered a case and arrested Rambabu. He was later produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Law enforcement officials stated that the language used and the nature of the speech had the potential to incite unrest and escalate tensions among political groups.
Police officials from Nallapadu Police informed the court that Rambabu has a history of making divisive remarks and inflammatory statements that could lead to public disorder. According to their submission, multiple cases were filed over time for similar offenses, establishing a pattern of behavior that warranted serious legal scrutiny. Authorities also noted that continued provocative statements could result in uncontrollable situations, including threats to public safety and even to Rambabu’s own security.
The revelation that 16 criminal cases are pending against Rambabu has sparked intense debate within political circles. Analysts suggest that resolving these legal issues could take considerable time, potentially keeping the YSR Congress leader behind bars for an extended period. Ironically, Rambabu had previously challenged the government to arrest him, a statement that has now come back into focus as he faces the legal consequences of his actions. With investigations ongoing and courts reviewing multiple cases, the coming weeks are expected to be crucial in determining the political and legal future of one of the most controversial voices in Andhra Pradesh politics.
