The tragic murder of Bob Lee, the Cash App founder and tech visionary, sent shockwaves through Silicon Valley nearly two years ago. Now, as his convicted killer awaits sentencing, Lee’s 16-year-old daughter, Scout, is speaking out about the emotional toll of the trial and her fight for justice.
A Shocking Verdict
After a high-profile trial, a San Francisco jury acquitted Nima Momeni of first-degree murder but found him guilty of second-degree murder in Lee’s April 4, 2023, stabbing. Momeni now faces 16 years to life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for May 16, 2025.
Speaking in her first public interview, Scout described the moment she heard the verdict:
"I felt my stomach drop. I grabbed my mom’s hand and just cried," she told a media.
While relieved by the guilty verdict, she expressed disappointment, believing that prosecutors had provided overwhelming evidence of premeditation.
A Night of Tragedy
On that fateful night, Bob Lee, 43, was fatally stabbed three times with a paring knife under the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. One of the wounds punctured his heart, leading to his tragic death. Security footage captured Lee stumbling through the streets, desperately calling 911 for help.
Why Did This Happen?
Prosecutors argued that Momeni attacked Lee after his sister, Khazar Momeni, claimed she had been sexually assaulted by a man Lee introduced her to. However, no charges were ever filed against the accused man, Jeremy Boivin, who later denied the allegation.
During the trial, Momeni claimed self-defense, stating that Lee attacked him first. However, the jury ultimately convicted him of second-degree murder.
A Community in Mourning
Bob Lee was more than just a tech mogul—he was a father, innovator, and beloved figure in Silicon Valley. His murder ignited debates about crime in San Francisco, safety concerns in the city, and the pressures within the tech industry.
As sentencing approaches, Lee’s family continues to seek justice, hoping that the man responsible for his death is held fully accountable.
