Free summer train rides offered to Ravinia Festival 2025 attendees
Getting to one of the region’s most iconic outdoor summer music festivals is easier and more affordable than ever in 2025. For the fifth straight year, attendees of the Ravinia Festival can enjoy complimentary train travel to the event, simplifying the journey for thousands of concertgoers.

The partnership allows anyone heading to the Ravinia Festival to ride the Union Pacific North Line at no cost, simply by presenting their event ticket to the train conductor. There is no need for a separate travel pass or booking confirmation. The concert ticket itself acts as a valid fare, making the process seamless and stress-free for music lovers across the area.

The Ravinia Festival season kicks off on June 6 and runs through August 31, offering nearly three months of live music experiences under the summer sky. This longstanding event is one of the area's most beloved cultural traditions, drawing audiences with its diverse lineup that spans classical orchestras, jazz ensembles, rock legends, and family-friendly performances.

Two train stations are conveniently situated near the festival grounds. The Ravinia Park Station sits directly at the entrance, delivering passengers steps from the venue. The Braeside Station, just a short walk away, serves as an additional access point and is ideal for those arriving earlier or looking to explore the neighborhood on foot before entering the venue.

Train service is specially adjusted to accommodate festival-goers. On weekdays, service to Ravinia Park Station begins at 5 p.m., aligning with most evening performances. Weekend schedules start in the mid-morning and continue throughout the day, allowing early arrivals and those attending daytime events to plan accordingly.

This initiative not only adds value for attendees but also supports more sustainable travel habits. By choosing public transportation over driving, festival visitors help reduce congestion in the residential streets around the grounds and contribute to a lower environmental footprint for the entire event season.

Beyond the environmental impact, the experience itself is a draw. The ride to the festival takes passengers through picturesque suburban landscapes, offering a scenic and relaxed alternative to the usual stress of navigating traffic or searching for parking. With a festival ticket in hand, riders can enjoy the journey without added cost or complications.

This effort to provide free transportation reflects a broader goal of making cultural experiences accessible to a wider audience. Whether attendees are returning fans or first-time visitors, this convenient travel option helps remove one of the common barriers to event participation—transportation costs.

The benefit comes at a time when summer schedules are filling up fast, and event planning can often come with unexpected expenses. For families, couples, or solo concertgoers, every saved dollar counts. Eliminating the need for gas or paid parking makes the festival more approachable and appealing to those watching their budget.

Attendees are encouraged to check updated train schedules ahead of their chosen performance date, particularly for late-night concerts or special weekend events that may affect return times. Planning ahead ensures a smooth experience from start to finish, allowing guests to focus on the music, the food, and the atmosphere that make this event a summer staple.

With a simple process, beautiful train routes, and unforgettable performances waiting at the destination, this summer’s train-to-concert initiative promises to deliver a season of convenience, joy, and lasting memories. Whether attending a major headliner or a serene symphony evening, the free ride sets the tone for a truly enjoyable festival outing.
