Pleasanton Community Garden Plots Now Open for 2025

Pleasanton residents looking to enjoy the summer season outdoors now have a unique opportunity to grow their own produce or flowers through the Pleasanton Community Garden. Located within Val Vista Community Park, the garden offers a welcoming space for individuals and families to cultivate their own plots even if they don’t have access to a backyard at home.

The community garden features a total of 41 rentable plots, including 34 full-size plots measuring approximately 12 by 8 feet, and seven plots at 10 by 10 feet. According to Rick Wilson, a Pleasanton gardener who manages community outreach for the garden, these spaces allow residents to enjoy fresh gardening experiences throughout the year.

Pricing is affordable and based on size. The larger plots rent for $149 per year, while the smaller ones are available for $79 annually. Each household is permitted one plot, with gardeners expected to maintain it regularly. The city of Pleasanton provides water, upkeep of common areas, and limited trash pickup to help maintain the space.

Open daily from 7 a.m. until sunset, the garden remains accessible year-round. Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just beginning, the community garden is a great way to engage with nature, meet neighbors, and take part in local sustainability efforts. Those interested in applying or joining the waitlist can email Garden Manager Jack Hettinger at [email protected] to inquire about availability and start the application process.
