Hyderabad Excise Raids Expose *** Smuggling Racket Hidden Behind Religious Idols

In a shocking revelation, Excise officials in Hyderabad uncovered a ganja smuggling racket where marijuana was hidden behind portraits of gods in pooja rooms to avoid detection during police checks. During raids in Dhoolpet, the Excise STF seized over 21 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 22 lakh. The drugs were sourced from Odisha and distributed in small packets to agents in Hyderabad’s IT areas like Gachibowli and Madhapur for retail sale. Several individuals, including Rohan Singh and Yashwant Singh, were arrested in connection with the smuggling operation.

The second raid on the same day, in Shivlal Nagar, led to the seizure of another 10 kg of ganja, with four suspects arrested. Officials also recovered 2 kg from a separate house in Balaram Galli. The total seizure amounted to 21.334 kg of ganja, with multiple arrests made across the operations. Excise officers have vowed to continue their crackdown on drug trafficking, emphasizing that these covert methods, such as hiding narcotics behind religious idols, pose a serious threat to society.
