Actor Vijay Declares No Alliance with DMK or BJP for 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections

Actor Vijay, leader of the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has made it clear that his party will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections without forming alliances with the ruling DMK or the BJP. Addressing a packed rally in Madurai, Vijay emphasized that TVK would not be playing second fiddle to any established Dravidian party, including the AIADMK and DMK. His stance signifies a bold political move as he prepares to introduce his party to the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay, who is making his political debut with TVK, declared that the upcoming election would be a direct contest between his party and the DMK. "I am a lion. I'm marking my territory," Vijay stated, signaling his intent to establish TVK as a force to be reckoned with. This strong declaration also ruled out any potential alliance with the BJP, including its local ally, AIADMK. He made it clear that his "only ideological enemy" was the BJP, while his "only political enemy" was the DMK.

The rally, part of TVK's second state conference, was held in Madurai East, a key location in Tamil Nadu's political landscape, traditionally a stronghold of the AIADMK but now under the control of the DMK. By choosing Madurai as the venue, Vijay sent a clear message to the people of southern Tamil Nadu, positioning himself as a challenger to the DMK's influence in the region. His speech resonated with thousands of enthusiastic supporters who chanted slogans in favor of his leadership.

During the rally, Vijay laid out the core priorities of his party, including the safety of women, children, and the elderly. He also spoke passionately about social issues such as the plight of farmers, the youth, transgender individuals, and the physically disabled. "TVK's politics is real, emotional, and meant for the betterment of people," Vijay said, highlighting his commitment to ensuring the welfare of marginalized groups.

Vijay also took the opportunity to address significant political issues, including the return of Katchatheevu, a set of islands claimed by both India and Sri Lanka. "800 Tamil Nadu fishermen have been attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy. To ensure the safety of our fishermen, retrieve Katchatheevu and give it to us," he demanded, invoking loud applause from the crowd. Additionally, Vijay renewed his call for the revocation of the NEET medical entrance exam, challenging the central government to act.

As Vijay's political journey begins, his firm stance on key issues and his refusal to align with either the DMK or BJP are setting the stage for a dramatic election in 2026. With his bold statements and unwavering confidence, Vijay is positioning TVK as a serious contender in Tamil Nadu's political landscape. The 2026 polls are shaping up to be a significant battle, with Vijay’s emerging influence playing a crucial role in the state’s future.
