Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has issued a strong and emotional warning to people who are neglecting their elderly parents, expressing deep concern over the rising number of complaints from senior citizens. He said he is personally disturbed by the increasing cases where aged parents are suffering due to neglect, emotional abandonment, and lack of care from their own children.
Sajjanar revealed that along with handling regular cases such as cheating, cybercrime, and crimes against women, he is now frequently meeting elderly parents who approach him with pain and desperation. Many of them request him to personally call and counsel their children, initiate legal action if required, or even help arrange relocation to old age homes. He described this growing trend as both worrying and heartbreaking.
Addressing children who neglect their parents, Sajjanar issued a clear and powerful warning. He reminded them that aging is inevitable and that one day they too will grow old. He cautioned that there is a strong possibility their own children may treat them the same way they are treating their parents today. He urged people to reflect on their actions now and consider the consequences they may face in the future.
The police commissioner also emphasized that health issues, emotional changes, or behavioral shifts in old age should never become reasons to abandon parents. He reminded society that these are the same parents who worked tirelessly throughout their lives, made sacrifices, educated their children, and helped them reach respectable positions in life.
Sajjanar’s message serves as a serious reminder about moral responsibility, gratitude, and the need to care for elderly parents with dignity and compassion. His remarks have resonated strongly with the public, highlighting a growing social issue that demands immediate attention.
