IRCTC has launched a major digital cleanup to make online train ticket booking fairer for genuine passengers. As part of the crackdown, more than 3 crore suspicious user accounts have been deactivated, while another 6 crore accounts have been placed under verification to check their authenticity. For regular passengers, the move could bring some relief during high-demand booking windows when confirmed tickets often disappear quickly.
Why IRCTC Took This Step
The action is aimed at reducing fake IDs, suspicious booking patterns and misuse of the reservation system by unauthorized agents. Such activities often affect passengers trying to book regular and Tatkal tickets. Reports also mention action against suspicious email domains and complaints linked to questionable PNR bookings.
AI Watch In Railway Kitchens
Along with ticketing checks, IRCTC is also expanding AI-based monitoring in railway kitchens. More than 800 kitchens are now being monitored through AI-enabled cameras to check hygiene and food preparation standards. These cameras can detect issues such as missing head caps, gloves, poor cleaning, rodents, flies and cockroaches.
The system sends alerts when violations are found, helping officials take faster corrective action. With crores of passengers depending on railway food and online ticket booking, this dual move could improve both trust and service quality.
