Indian Army Major Prabhat Mishra has won two top academic honors at the US Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, standing out in a global military education program.

Indian Army Officer Honored at US Army Command and General Staff College
Major Mishra received the Birrer-Brookes Award for Outstanding Master of Military Arts and Science Thesis and the General Douglas MacArthur Military Leadership Writing Award. The honors recognize excellence in military research, leadership writing and professional military education.
The awards placed the Indian Army officer among the notable performers in a highly competitive cohort of US and international military officers. The course is designed for promising field-grade leaders selected by their armed forces.
Officers From Norway and Kuwait Also Recognized
The graduation ceremony also honored officers from other countries. Major Aleksander Granberg of Norway received the General Dwight D. Eisenhower Award and the Arter-Doniphan Award. Lieutenant Colonel Taleh SFHH Alrashid of Kuwait received the Major General Hans Schlup Award.
The recognitions highlighted the international scope of the Command and General Staff College and its role in training officers from allied and partner militaries alongside US Army personnel.
Why Fort Leavenworth Recognition Matters
Lieutenant General Jim Isenhower, commanding general of the US Army Combined Arms Command and Fort Leavenworth, addressed the graduating officers on the responsibilities of leadership and the challenges completed during the 10-month course.
The Command and General Staff College is one of the US Army’s major professional military education institutions. Its international military education program began in 1894 and has trained more than 8,700 international military students from nearly 170 countries.
For India-US defense ties, Major Mishra’s recognition adds another example of Indian military officers participating in advanced professional training in the United States and earning distinction in international cohorts.
