A 16-year-old student identified as Rahul reportedly died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district following an alleged derogatory remark about his skin colour. Rahul was originally from Takrauli village in Madhya Pradesh and had been living with relatives away from his family so that he could continue his education.
Disagreement Reported at School
Police said that on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Rahul had a minor disagreement with a female classmate at school. During the exchange, the classmate allegedly used a derogatory term referring to his skin colour. Authorities are investigating the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Student Found Unresponsive
Rahul returned to the house where he was staying after the school incident. When he did not come out of his room the following day, people in the house became concerned and checked on him. He was found unresponsive, and local residents immediately informed the police.
Police Investigation Underway
Police reached the scene, completed the required procedures and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. After Rahul’s relatives arrived, the body was released to the family for the last rites. Sub-Inspector Harveer Singh said police are investigating the complete sequence of events. The case has renewed attention on school bullying, colour-based harassment and the need for stronger student mental health support.
