Mizoram police have successfully dismantled several drug smuggling operations, seizing narcotics worth ₹25.01 crore over the past week. The drugs, primarily heroin and methamphetamine, were recovered in multiple locations across the state.
One of the major operations took place on March 25, when a CID team intercepted a truck near Tuirial Bridge, Aizawl. The driver, a 23-year-old from Champhai district, was arrested.
Between March 27 and 29, police seized 4.46 kg of heroin worth ₹8.93 crore in three separate operations near Keifang, Saitual district. Four people from Manipur and one from Assam were arrested during these busts.
On March 31, two Myanmarese nationals were arrested in the Zembawk area of Aizawl for possessing 104 grams of heroin valued at ₹20.4 lakh.
The eight accused have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, the Arms Act, and the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
