The UAE Green Visa gives qualifying skilled workers, freelancers, self-employed professionals, investors and business partners five years of residency without sponsorship from a single employer. Introduced in 2022, it also permits family sponsorship and provides a grace period of up to six months after cancellation.

How much does the UAE Green Visa cost?
The Green Visa work permit application fee is Dh200 plus 5% VAT. People applying from inside the UAE must also pay a Dh10 Knowledge Dirham fee, a Dh10 Innovation Dirham fee and a Dh500 in-country application fee. Total costs can vary depending on individual circumstances and processing requirements.
Existing UAE residents are advised not to cancel their current visa before receiving formal approval for the Green Residence permit.
Family sponsorship and five-year residency benefits
Green Visa holders can sponsor first-degree family members and dependents. The permit supports skilled employment, freelance work, entrepreneurship and investment without tying residency to one employer.
Its five-year validity and six-month grace period can give eligible residents more flexibility to manage work, business and family changes while maintaining legal residency in the UAE.
