Lacy's $12,000 Japan Restaurant Bill Claim Disputed by Restaurant

American Twitch streamer Lacy, whose real name is Nicholas Fosco, has attracted widespread attention after claiming viewers left him with a restaurant bill of nearly $12,000 during a livestream in Japan. The incident began when a QR code used for ordering food appeared on camera. However, the restaurant has since disputed his claim that he paid for the unauthorized orders.

Lacy Twitch Livestream QR Code Incident

The incident occurred on October 28, 2026, while Lacy was dining at a Japanese restaurant with fellow content creator Darla Claire.

During the livestream, a QR code linked to his table's ordering system became visible to viewers.

Some viewers allegedly scanned the code and submitted food and drink orders without the streamer's permission.

Lacy realised something was wrong when restaurant staff approached him about orders he said he had not placed.

Japan Restaurant Responds to $12,000 Bill Claim

The restaurant, Zauo Shibuya, subsequently addressed the incident through a social media statement.

It acknowledged that unauthorized orders had been submitted by third parties but rejected claims that customers were required to pay for food they had not ordered.

According to the restaurant, staff confirmed disputed orders with customers and charged them only for items they actually consumed.

The restaurant did not publicly disclose the exact amount Lacy paid for his meal.

Viewers Place Unauthorized Food Orders

Lacy initially claimed the unexpected orders reached approximately 500,000 yen before additional receipts brought the total to around 1.6 million yen.

He described the amount as nearly $12,000, although that figure was his estimate rather than an independently verified payment.

The restaurant confirmed that some unwanted dishes had been prepared before staff identified the unauthorized orders.

It also said some of those dishes were discarded rather than served to customers.

Lacy Explains the Viral Restaurant Prank

During the livestream, Lacy expressed frustration with viewers who allegedly used the ordering system as a prank.

He claimed that he apologised to restaurant employees, paid the bill and asked staff to distribute the extra food to families dining there.

However, the restaurant's later statement challenged the payment account, leaving the exact circumstances of the final bill disputed.

Clips of the incident spread across social media, attracting attention to the prank and its consequences for restaurant employees.

QR Code Ordering System Safety Concerns

The incident has raised questions about the risks of displaying table-specific ordering codes during public livestreams.

Many restaurants use QR systems to let customers place orders directly from their phones.

If a code can be accessed remotely without additional verification, people outside the restaurant may be able to submit unauthorized orders.

The episode highlights the importance of protecting ordering information and checking unusual transactions before preparing large quantities of food.

For viewers, it is also a reminder that online pranks can create real inconvenience for businesses and their staff.
