Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has launched the Singappen Special Force, a dedicated all-women police unit aimed at improving women’s safety and strengthening preventive policing across the state. The initiative was rolled out in Chennai on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. In the first phase, 70 units of the force will begin operations across Tamil Nadu with 140 sub-inspectors and 420 constables.
