Weber recalls 3.2 million grill brushes in the US over metal bristle injury risk
A nationwide recall has been issued in the United States for more than 3.2 million grill brushes manufactured by Weber after safety officials warned that metal bristles from the brushes can detach and create a serious risk of injury. The recall was announced following multiple complaints that loose wire bristles became stuck in food and were accidentally swallowed, leading to potential internal harm.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers six different models of metal wire bristle grill brushes that were sold across the US over several years. Authorities received at least 38 reports of bristles separating from the brushes during normal use. In four reported incidents, individuals required medical treatment after swallowing the metal pieces, which became lodged in the throat or digestive tract. Officials noted that such cases can result in severe internal injuries if the objects are not removed quickly.

The recalled products include brushes with plastic and bamboo handles in different sizes, all carrying the Weber logo. These grill brushes were sold between 2011 and 2026 at major retail chains, hardware stores, and online platforms throughout the United States. The products were available in stores and on websites including large home improvement retailers and online marketplaces, and some may still be found on resale sites.

Consumers are being urged to stop using the recalled grill brushes immediately. Customers who own the affected models should contact the manufacturer to request a replacement nylon bristle grill brush, which is considered safer for cleaning. A customer support phone line and recall webpage have been set up to help consumers identify the recalled items and arrange replacements.

Safety officials said the recall highlights the importance of checking cooking tools regularly and paying attention to product safety warnings, especially for items used in food preparation, where hidden defects can lead to serious health risks.
