Crystal Temptations of North Arlington, New Jersey, recalled its Halloween Chocolatey Eyeballs on August 31, 2026, because the products contain milk that was not declared on the label. People with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity could face a serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the candy.
The recall covers 7-ounce, 10-ounce, 10.5-ounce, 11-ounce and 16-ounce packages. The FDA said no illnesses had been reported as of the recall announcement.
Chocolatey Eyeballs sold in 13 states
The recalled candy was distributed through Marshalls, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming.
Affected style numbers are 54040-CHEY, 54077-CHEY, 58008-CHEY, 58089-CHEY and 54083-CHEY. Packaging varies by style and includes bags, an acrylic box, a round plastic jar and a designer pouch.
Undeclared milk traced to packaging problem
According to the recall notice, a TJX analyst discovered that the Chocolatey Eyeballs contained whey, a milk ingredient, while the packaging did not disclose milk. The company said its investigation linked the issue to a temporary breakdown in production and packaging processes.
Milk is one of the nine major food allergens recognized under U.S. federal food-labeling rules, which require packaged foods to identify major allergens used as ingredients.
Consumers told to destroy recalled candy
Consumers who purchased the affected Chocolatey Eyeballs are being urged to destroy the product. Refunds are not available at the retail stores; customers must contact Crystal Temptations with proof of purchase.
