Prince William Nansledan Visit Highlights Duchy Housing Push

Prince William’s Nansledan visit on Thursday, May 21, 2026, focused on the Duchy of Cornwall’s expanding role in housing, local business and sustainable development.

The Prince of Wales, known as the Duke of Cornwall while in the region, reviewed progress at Nansledan, the Duchy-backed community development in Cornwall, and toured plans for its upcoming Market Street.

Prince William Nansledan Visit Focuses on Market Street

Market Street is scheduled for completion in 2028 and is planned as one of the first newly built high streets of its kind in more than a century. The project is expected to create space for local artisans, independent businesses and community enterprises.

Nansledan already includes about 900 homes, a primary school, office space, a community center and more than 40 local businesses.

Duchy Project Emphasizes Green Community Design

Sustainability remains a central part of the development. The community includes wildflower meadows, parkland, orchards, wetlands, ponds, allotments, play areas and a skatepark.

William also visited Nansledan’s first Build-to-Rent homes, where he met residents and heard about their experiences.

Cornwall Housing Work Connects to Homelessness Support

During the visit, William toured a Duchy housing development created with St. Petrocs, the Royal Foundation’s Homewards program and the Duke of Cornwall’s Charitable Foundation.

The project is expected to deliver 24 low-carbon homes for local people experiencing homelessness.

Isles of Scilly Visit Turns to Healthcare and Homes

William is scheduled to travel to St. Mary’s on Friday, May 22, 2026, aboard the new pilot boat John Guy, a Duchy-funded vessel named after a longtime Duchy colleague.

He is expected to visit the Isles of Scilly Hospital to meet staff and patients while opening a new extension intended to increase healthcare capacity. He also plans to tour nearly completed sustainable homes designed to ease the local housing shortage, with residents expected to move in during the winter of 2026.

The visit highlights how the Duchy of Cornwall is linking royal estate development with housing needs, local enterprise and environmental planning across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
