Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the Order of Oman, the Sultanate’s highest civilian honour, by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in recognition of his contribution to strengthening India-Oman relations. The award was presented during PM Modi’s ongoing visit to Muscat, the final stop of his three-nation tour that included Jordan and Ethiopia. This recognition adds to his record of over 28 prestigious civilian honours from nations around the world, including recent distinctions such as Ethiopia’s Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia and Kuwait’s Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer.
The visit marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Oman, highlighting growing cooperation in trade, energy, defence, culture, and investment. PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome upon arrival on Wednesday, reflecting the warmth of bilateral ties. The honour reinforces Oman’s acknowledgement of India’s expanding global role and its deepening engagement with the Middle East.
Earlier, during his stop in Ethiopia, PM Modi was conferred with the Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia for his contribution to strengthening the India-Ethiopia partnership. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude and dedicated the award to the people of India and to all who have worked to build lasting bilateral ties. With these recognitions, India’s expanding diplomatic relationships continue to reflect its increasing global influence and strategic partnerships across regions.
