Book Donation Event at NVL Memorial Telugu Library in Melissa, Texas
Renowned literary figure and poet Dr. Jandhyala Jayakrishna Bapuji stated that no matter how much civilization and technology advance, goodness, humanity, and the development of a cultured society are possible only through books. He spoke as the chief guest at a book donation event held on Sunday evening at the NVL Memorial Telugu Library in Melissa, Dallas, USA. He mentioned that all texts, from ancient Vedas to modern writings, have contributed to the development of human life. He also said that great personalities like Gadicherla Harisarvottama Rao, Ayyanki Venkata Ramanayya, and Paturi Nagabhushanam spread the library movement across villages and fostered a love for reading among people.

He added that inspired by libraries such as Vetapalem Library, Gautami Library in Rajahmundry, and Annamayya Spiritual Library in Guntur—institutions that Telugus can be proud of—Mr. Nalajula Nagaraju from the USA established a Telugu library in his home in memory of his father, Nalajula Venkateswarlu, and is rendering service through books, which deserves appreciation from all. Jayakrishna Bapuji shared that it was his father, Karunasri Jandhyala Papayya Sastry, who instilled in him an interest in reading from childhood, enabling him to study Telugu, teach it, and become a Telugu poet.

The event was presided over by Ponangi Gopal, founder and president of Shubham Foundation and a noted educationist. He thanked Nagaraju’s family for making their foundation a partner in establishing the NVL Memorial Telugu Library.

On this occasion, retired principal and renowned spiritual author Pingali Panduranga Rao sent his self-written books worth ₹10,000 from Ongole, which were handed over to Nagaraju, the founder of NVL Library, by the guests. Speakers praised Panduranga Rao, who at the age of 92 sent books to a Telugu library in the USA at his own expense, saying his respect for books should be an inspiration to all. Nagaraju expressed his gratitude to Panduranga Rao during the event.

Later, prominent poet Dr. Balluri Umadevi donated her own writings to the library and spoke at the event. Another noted writer, Sindhumadhuri, announced that she would donate more than 2,000 valuable books from her collection to the NVL Library. Shubham Foundation director Vijay Tadapaneni, TANA representative Malli Vemana, renowned doctors Dr. Vijay Kathari and Dr. Phani, poet Jandhyala Srinath, retired headmaster Purushottam Reddy, Bharat, Venkat Cherukuri, Avaneendra Linga, Kiran Muvva, and Nagaraju’s family members Sunita, Ganesh, Gayatri, Kavitha, and Gautam also attended.
