N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is set to mark a major milestone in India’s deep tech journey by launching the country’s first indigenous quantum computing testbeds in Amaravati. The landmark initiative aligns with the vision of transforming the capital region into a globally recognized “Quantum Valley” and coincides with the celebration of World Quantum Day.

The advanced quantum testbed facility, established at SRM University AP, represents a significant leap toward building India’s sovereign capabilities in quantum technologies. With this launch, the country will now be able to design, test, certify, and manufacture quantum systems domestically under the framework of the National Quantum Mission.

The initiative is expected to drastically reduce dependency on foreign testing infrastructure, allowing startups, researchers, and innovators to validate their quantum technologies within India. By enabling faster testing cycles, the facility is set to accelerate the pace of deep tech innovation and research across sectors.

The project is a cornerstone of Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious plan to establish Amaravati as a global hub for quantum research and development. The testbeds—1S and 1Q—will also be virtually launched at Medha Towers near Vijayawada, creating a dual-node infrastructure to support growing technological demand.

According to officials, the facility will provide a comprehensive ecosystem for quantum and superconducting technologies, enabling seamless collaboration between academia, industry, and startups. The move is expected to attract global investments, foster talent development, and position India as a competitive player in next-generation computing technologies.

The quantum testbeds will serve as an open-access platform, allowing innovators to experiment, develop, and commercialize quantum solutions without the traditional barriers of cost and access. This is particularly crucial for startups, which often rely on overseas facilities for testing, leading to delays and increased expenses.

Developed with a focus on superconducting qubit-based systems, the platform integrates advanced cryogenic setups, control electronics, and quantum software components. This holistic approach ensures that India not only builds capability in hardware but also strengthens its ecosystem in quantum software and system-level integration.

Experts believe the initiative will significantly reduce development timelines—from months to just days—making India more agile in the global quantum race. By fostering an environment of rapid experimentation and innovation, the facility is poised to play a transformative role in shaping the future of technology in the country. With this launch, Andhra Pradesh takes a decisive step toward leading India’s quantum revolution, reinforcing its position as a hub for cutting-edge research and technological advancement.
