In one of the most significant drug seizures in recent San Marcos history, police uncovered a massive stash of illegal narcotics and firearms earlier this month during a search of a home on Hughson Drive. Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, the San Marcos Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant that led to the arrest of 28-year-old Erik Cadena, who now faces a list of multiple felony charges.
Authorities reported finding a staggering quantity of controlled substances, including 846 grams of cocaine, over 1,400 MDMA pills, and 83 pounds of liquid THC, among other drugs. Officers also confiscated an arsenal of weapons and several high-capacity magazines, suggesting a potentially dangerous distribution operation based out of the residence.

Police say the quantity and variety of substances indicate the house was being used as a major distribution hub. The discovery of such a broad assortment of narcotics, combined with firearms, presents a grave threat to public safety, according to officials.
“This was a textbook example of the impact a single tip can have,” said a spokesperson for the San Marcos Police Department. “Thanks to the information from a vigilant citizen, we were able to act swiftly and remove a large quantity of dangerous substances from the community.” Officials emphasized that more charges could be filed as the investigation progresses, particularly in relation to the firearms and whether any were illegally acquired or linked to prior incidents. No further suspects have been identified at this time, but law enforcement agencies are collaborating on potential trafficking connections.
The seizure highlights growing concerns about poly-drug trafficking where multiple types of drugs are distributed by a single network. The presence of potent synthetic substances like MDMA, ketamine, and LSD, along with prescription medications like Adderall, is alarming for law enforcement given the ongoing battle against opioid and stimulant abuse in Texas. As the case against Erik Cadena moves through the legal system, authorities are urging residents to report suspicious activity. “Your voice matters. The safety of our neighborhoods depends on community cooperation,” officials reiterated. San Marcos police continue to monitor related activity in the area and are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward.
