Looking to bring home a new four-legged companion? This Saturday, June 7, the East Bay SPCA is hosting a fee-waived pet adoption event at both its Dublin and Oakland centers as part of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day. The event gives residents across the Bay Area an opportunity to adopt a dog or cat at no cost, with all animals spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
More than 150 animal shelters across California are participating in the initiative, organized by the California Animal Welfare Association, the California SPCA, and the San Francisco SPCA. Last year’s event saw over 3,600 animals adopted, surpassing the original goal of 2,024 adoptions. This year, the target is set even higher 5,000 successful adoptions in a single day.
Visit the Dublin or Oakland Centers
The East Bay SPCA will open its doors for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dublin Adoption Center (4651 Gleason Drive) and the Oakland Adoption Center (8323 Baldwin Street). Certified animal behavior experts will also be on-site to help prospective pet parents learn more about the needs, personalities, and care requirements of different animals.
Pets available for adoption include a variety of breeds, ages, and sizes ranging from playful kittens and puppies to calm, older companions who may be better suited for quiet households. The SPCA team encourages families, individuals, and seniors to come explore the adoption options and meet their potential future pets in person.
With no fees involved and expert support available, this is a great chance for residents to welcome a new pet into their home while also helping local shelters reduce overcrowding and find loving homes for their animals. Visit the East Bay SPCA website to view available pets and prepare for the adoption process ahead of the event.
