Assam Rifles Convoy Ambushed In Manipur, 2 Jawans Killed And 4 Injured

Tension gripped Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday evening after unknown gunmen ambushed a convoy of 33 Assam Rifles near Nambol Sabal Leikai. The attack, which took place around 5.50 pm, claimed the lives of two soldiers and left four others injured. One jawan remains critically wounded and is undergoing treatment along with others at nearby hospitals.

According to officials, the convoy was moving from Imphal towards Bishnupur when armed militants opened fire. Additional security forces were immediately rushed to the location to secure the area and prevent further escalation.

Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh strongly condemned the assault, describing it as a cruel blow to the state. He expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured jawans. Singh also demanded the harshest punishment for those responsible, stressing that such violent acts cannot be tolerated.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of insurgency and violence in Manipur, which has witnessed repeated clashes in recent months. Security forces continue to maintain high alert across sensitive areas to prevent further ambushes. The courage and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers have once again reminded the nation of the risks faced daily by personnel serving in conflict-prone regions of northeast India.
