India has issued a fresh advisory for its citizens residing in or travelling to Mexico following reports of ongoing clashes and heightened security operations in several regions of the country. The Indian Embassy in Mexico City released the alert on Sunday, urging Indian nationals to exercise extreme caution and limit their movement until the situation stabilizes.
According to the advisory shared by the embassy, individuals currently in Jalisco state, including Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, and Guadalajara, as well as parts of Tamaulipas, Michoacan, Guerrero, and Nuevo Leon, have been specifically asked to shelter in place until further notice. Authorities cited continuing law enforcement activity, roadblocks, and criminal incidents as key reasons for the precautionary warning.
The embassy emphasized that the safety of Indian nationals remains a priority and advised citizens to avoid areas where police or security forces are operating. Individuals have also been urged to remain aware of their surroundings and minimize unnecessary travel outside their residences. Monitoring local media for verified updates and complying fully with instructions issued by local authorities were highlighted as essential safety measures.
In its guidance checklist, the mission stressed the importance of avoiding crowds and maintaining regular communication with family and friends regarding one’s location and well-being through phone calls, text messages, or social media. In case of emergencies, nationals have been advised to immediately contact local emergency services by dialing 911.
The Indian Embassy has also provided a dedicated helpline number, +52 55 4847 7539, for citizens requiring assistance or clarification. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and have indicated that further updates will be issued as needed.
The advisory comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of Mexico, prompting diplomatic missions to remind their citizens to remain vigilant and prioritize personal safety.
