PM Modi Calls Amaravati a 'Shakti' as He Lays Foundation for Andhra Pradesh's Dream City

In a landmark moment for Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the capital city of Amaravati, describing it as a "Shakti" a force of transformation and aspiration for the people of the state. Speaking at a grand public event attended by lakhs, PM Modi said that Amaravati was more than just a city; it was a dream turning into reality, representing the ambitions of a state ready to lead in the future.

The Prime Minister highlighted the city’s role as a symbol of Andhra Pradesh’s modern identity. He emphasized that Amaravati would emerge as a powerhouse in technology, green energy, artificial intelligence, and industrial development. “Amaravati is not just one city. It is a Shakti. A Shakti that enables Andhra Pradesh to be 'adhunik' (modern),” he stated, drawing applause from the massive gathering.

Modi assured the people of Andhra Pradesh that the central government would provide support at an unprecedented pace to make the dream of Amaravati come true. He praised the Chandrababu Naidu-led government for its vision and technological foresight, promising full cooperation from Delhi to bring rapid development to the region.

PM Modi used the occasion to reflect on his long-standing admiration for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, a veteran leader known for driving technological and infrastructure progress in the state. “Our Chandrababu Naidu talked about me being tech-savvy. I want to tell you that when I became Gujarat’s Chief Minister, I closely watched how Chandrababu Naidu worked in Hyderabad. I learnt a lot from him,” Modi revealed.

He added that Chandrababu’s track record in managing large-scale projects and embracing future technologies made him the ideal leader to shape Amaravati’s future. “Be it future technology or large-scale works, Chandrababu Naidu is the man for it. So, we should do things in the best way and in the shortest amount of time,” the Prime Minister said, affirming his trust in the TDP leader’s capabilities.

PM Modi also paid heartfelt tribute to the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), a revered figure in Andhra politics. “NTR had envisioned a prosperous Andhra Pradesh. Together, we need to make Amaravati and Andhra Pradesh the growth engine of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India),” he said. Calling on the collaborative spirit of leaders, he continued, “Chandrababu Naidu Garu, brother Pawan Kalyan, we have to do it. We only have to do it.”

The event reflected a sense of unity and urgency in delivering the promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh. The visual of PM Modi sharing the stage with CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan rekindled public hope for cooperative governance and future-focused leadership.

PM Modi also spoke of the massive strides India has taken in the last decade under his government, especially in infrastructure and digital growth. “In the last 10 years, we've moved to the top countries in terms of development and works. Even today, several projects have been opened for development in the state, be it rail or road projects,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Andhra Pradesh’s transformation must be built on strong connectivity and technological integration. “In Andhra Pradesh, there's a new chapter being written on connectivity; connectivity between mandals, cities, and states,” he said, pointing to new rail lines, expressways, and digital infrastructure being developed across the state.

The speech marked not only a ceremonial beginning for Amaravati but also a political and economic message about the direction of the state’s development under the current leadership. With its focus on futuristic industries like AI and renewable energy, Amaravati 2.0 is being positioned as one of India’s most ambitious smart city projects. As the capital city project gains momentum, PM Modi’s strong endorsement and visible support from the central government may signal renewed investor confidence and strategic importance for Andhra Pradesh in India’s broader developmental roadmap.
