Visakhapatnam has taken a significant leap toward becoming a major IT hub with Cognizant officially beginning operations at its new 1,000-seat facility in the Mahati Fintech building at Rushikonda IT Park Hill 2. Industry experts say this marks the beginning of a new growth phase for the city’s technology ecosystem.

The development comes months after discussions held in Davos, where Minister Nara Lokesh met Cognizant’s leadership on January 23. The company approved its Visakhapatnam investment on June 25, and by December 12, the new campus became operational. Leaders say this reflects the strong pace, efficiency, and investor-friendly approach of the current administration. The inauguration created a wave of excitement among job seekers, with officials highlighting that fast decision-making and quick execution are attracting global companies to Andhra Pradesh.

The foundation stone for Cognizant’s permanent campus is also being laid, with an investment of ₹1,500 crore expected to generate over 8,000 direct jobs and thousands of indirect opportunities. Alongside Cognizant, Sattva Group and seven other IT companies are launching new projects that will strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as a rising IT powerhouse. New developments include an AI Technology Center—Sritek Tammin—at Hill 2, offering jobs to 2,000 professionals, and a large IT space, data center, and Vantage Vizag campus by Sattva Developers at Hill 4. Meanwhile, companies such as Imaginnovative, Fluentgrid, Motherson Technologies, and Quarks Technosoft are preparing to open development centers in Kapuluppada. With rapid software expansion, job creation, and increasing investments, Visakhapatnam is now emerging as one of the fastest-growing IT cities in India.
