The Andhra Pradesh government has officially completed the process of declaring Amaravati as the permanent capital of the state. The resolution was formalized in the Assembly in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, while Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy remained absent during the proceedings.
In a significant development, sources from New Delhi indicate that discussions are actively underway at the central level regarding legislation for Amaravati. Senior BJP leader and former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu is said to have held key talks with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite the process.
According to reports, Amit Shah confirmed that the groundwork had already begun and that the Home Ministry has cleared the required files. The proposal is now awaiting presentation before the Union Cabinet for final approval. With Venkaiah Naidu’s involvement and strong central connections, the process is expected to move swiftly.
There are also indications that the proposal could be introduced in Parliament as early as April 1, with official approval likely to follow soon. This marks a crucial step toward solidifying Amaravati’s status as the permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh.
