Fort Worth Man on Life Support After Hit-and-Run by Best Friend

A tragic accident in Fort Worth has left 33-year-old Daniel Lester on life support after he was struck by a car allegedly driven by his best friend, David Hall, who then fled the scene. The heartbreaking incident unfolded Saturday evening near Clifford Street and Western Trade Drive, sparking a police investigation and profound grief for the victim’s family.

According to family members and Fort Worth police, the sequence of events began when a truck nearly collided with Lester’s vehicle. Daniel reportedly stepped out to confront the truck driver, with Hall who was also present getting out of his own vehicle as well. Moments later, Hall attempted to pursue the fleeing truck but inadvertently struck Daniel.

Though the Lester family believes the hit was not intentional, they remain devastated that Hall did not stop to help. “I know it was an accident, but how can you leave your best friend laying there?” said Presley Lester, Daniel’s sister. “I wouldn’t have so much anger if he hadn’t fled and hidden for hours.” Police confirmed that Hall turned himself in several hours after the incident and is currently facing charges related to a collision involving serious bodily injury. These charges could escalate if Lester is removed from life support.

Daniel Lester is currently sustained by life support as the family prepares for organ donation, scheduled for Tuesday. Presley shared that the decision aligns with what Daniel, a father of two young sons, would have wanted. She also revealed that her unborn son, due August 1, will be named Daniel in honor of her brother.

“He was a great guy, taken too soon,” she said, reflecting on the legacy her brother leaves behind. As the investigation continues, the Fort Worth community mourns a man remembered for his warmth, family devotion, and enduring friendships even as one of those friendships ended in unimaginable tragedy.
