YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the prominent political figure and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, faced severe backlash today after his supposed condolence visit to Sattenapalli took a controversial and tragic turn. Originally billed as a non-political visit to offer condolences to the family of a recently deceased YSRCP leader, the tour ended up drawing widespread criticism after two people lost their lives amid the massive crowd activity that accompanied the event.
Despite clear instructions from the Andhra Pradesh Police advising against the visit due to potential safety and logistical concerns, the YSR Congress Party went ahead with the plan. According to sources, Jagan began his journey from Tadepalli early in the morning with the intention of reaching Sattenapalli within a few hours. However, instead of following a direct route for a solemn visit, the trip turned into a prolonged political display involving large bike rallies and convoys, significantly delaying his arrival until the evening.
Tragically, the lack of crowd control and disregard for official advice led to two separate fatal incidents. In one case, an elderly man was struck by a convoy vehicle associated with Jagan's entourage early in the day. He later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. In another shocking incident, a man standing at the Clock Tower Junction in Sattenapalli reportedly died due to suffocation in the overcrowded area.
Locals and opposition voices have been quick to criticize Jagan for turning what was supposed to be a personal and respectful visit into a political show of strength. Many are questioning the priorities of the YCP leadership, accusing them of placing image-building above public safety. The incident has reignited debates about crowd management, political accountability, and the real purpose behind public visits by high-profile leaders. As investigations into the events of the day continue, the tragic loss of life has cast a long shadow over the former CM’s political conduct, reminding leaders and citizens alike of the consequences of ignoring public safety protocols.
