Cape Breton University Expands India Push With 3 New MoUs

Cape Breton University has signed three MoUs in India to expand student exchange, faculty mobility, research collaboration and Canada-linked education pathways for Indian learners. The Nova Scotia-based university’s India outreach was led by President and Vice-Chancellor David C. Dingwall, who visited New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara and Ahmedabad between April 27 and May 2.

What The CBU India MoUs Cover

In New Delhi, CBU signed a five-year MoU with BML Munjal University’s School of Engineering and Technology. Officials said the agreement will support student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects and co-created academic conferences. A second agreement named NEF as CBU’s convening partner in India, helping the university build structured engagement with government bodies and leading institutions. CBU also signed an MoU with Lok Jagruti Kendra University in Gujarat and held discussions with Parul University and Navrachana University to explore wider academic partnerships.

Why It Matters For Indian Students

The partnerships could open new pathways for Indian students seeking international exposure without immediately moving abroad. Hybrid learning models were discussed, allowing students to begin coursework in India before transitioning to CBU’s campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia. During the visit, Dingwall also met Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood to discuss collaboration in artificial intelligence, community development and startup ecosystems.

In Gujarat, talks with Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi focused on talent pipelines for semiconductors, renewable energy and automotive manufacturing, including opportunities linked to Dholera Special Investment Region. For CBU, the MoUs strengthen its India presence. For Indian institutions, they signal deeper access to global research, academic mobility and industry-aligned education.
