In a move aimed at decentralizing governance and strengthening constituency-level administration, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that each MLA will now have a dedicated office at the constituency headquarters. These offices will function as nodal centers, facilitating smoother coordination between elected representatives, officials, and citizens.
Naidu inaugurated the Swarnandhra Vision Units virtually, establishing these in all 175 constituencies across 26 districts of the state. He said that despite serving in politics for over four decades, MLAs often lacked a consistent, functional space to address constituency matters outside party or guest houses. This initiative addresses that gap.
As part of the setup:
-
A nodal officer and district collector will coordinate efforts from the MLA office.
-
Experts and officials will be available to help address public grievances.
-
Five employees from various secretariats will assist MLAs with suggestions and planning.
-
An educational institution will serve as a knowledge partner, offering additional insights on problem-solving.
-
Each office has received ₹10 lakh to establish necessary infrastructure.
Naidu emphasized the importance of MLAs creating action plans to build “a healthy, wealthy, and happy society,” with goals targeted to be achieved by 2029, in alignment with the broader Swarnandhra Vision 2047.
He reiterated the implementation of the P4 policy — public-private-people partnership, which focuses on inclusive economic development and poverty alleviation. He urged MLAs to build local networks and engage knowledge partners to drive growth and innovation at the constituency level.
This initiative is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and citizen participation in local governance across Andhra Pradesh.
