Minneapolis Catholic School Shooting Leaves 20 Injured, Shooter Contained

A tragic shooting took place on Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in southwest Minneapolis, leaving at least 20 people injured and several fatalities reported. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now contained and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Incident
According to officials, the shooting began around 8:30 a.m. CDT during a student Mass inside the church, which also houses the school. Witnesses described scenes of panic as students, staff, and parishioners rushed to safety while law enforcement quickly secured the area.

The suspect, described as a man dressed in black and armed with a rifle, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, effectively ending the attack.

Casualties
Authorities reported that around 20 people were injured, with several children among the victims. Tragically, at least two children lost their lives in the incident. Emergency crews and hospitals across Minneapolis have been mobilized to provide urgent medical care to the injured.

Emergency Response
The rapid response included Minneapolis Police, Richfield PD, Minnesota State Patrol, BCA, FBI, and ATF. Governor Tim Walz called the event a “horrific act of violence”, while thanking first responders for their swift action that prevented even greater loss of life.

Mayor Jacob Frey and Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith have also expressed condolences, assuring full support for the victims’ families. Federal officials confirmed that the White House is monitoring the situation closely.
