BRS Alleges CCTV and Phone Hacking by Revanth Reddy Government

April 28, 2026 | Hyderabad — BRS alleges CCTV and phone hacking by Revanth Reddy government. Harish Rao claims surveillance on leaders, says evidence will be revealed later

Political tensions have surfaced in Telangana as leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi have accused the Indian National Congress government, led by A. Revanth Reddy, of engaging in illegal surveillance activities. These allegations mark a sharp escalation in the ongoing political rivalry between the two parties.

Former minister T. Harish Rao has made strong claims that the government is not only tapping the phones of opposition leaders but also hacking into CCTV cameras installed outside their homes. According to him, private hackers have allegedly been brought in from Bengaluru and stationed within the Hyderabad Command and Control infrastructure to monitor the activities of BRS leaders.

Harish Rao further stated that his party possesses evidence to support these claims and warned that they would reveal it at an appropriate time. He also issued a political warning, suggesting that those responsible would be held accountable if the BRS returns to power in the future.

These allegations are significant as they raise concerns about privacy, misuse of state machinery, and the extent of political surveillance. However, it is important to note that these claims have not yet been independently verified. If proven true, such actions could have serious legal and constitutional implications, as unauthorized surveillance is a punishable offense.

At the same time, even if such surveillance data exists, it cannot be legally used as evidence in court if obtained through illegal means. This creates a complex situation where political advantage may be sought, but legal validity remains questionable. As of now, the government has not issued a detailed response to these accusations, and the issue is likely to intensify in the coming days.
