BJP Leaders Visit Kali Bari Mandir After Historic Victory in West Bengal

Following a historic victory in West Bengal, which many have called the "final frontier" for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), top leaders of the party, including National President Nitin Nabin, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, state president Virendra Sachdeva, and MP Bansuri Swaraj, visited the iconic Kali Bari Mandir in Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi, on May 5 offered prayers and seeked blessings for the party’s upcoming government in the state. After the prayer ceremony, Nabin addressed the media, thanking the voters of West Bengal and across India for their support. He credited the party's success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balancing development while preserving India’s cultural heritage. "The country is advancing along the path of development while safeguarding its rich cultural legacy," Nabin said. He added, "We are confident that West Bengal’s cultural heritage will be strengthened under the Prime Minister’s vision."

Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Chief Minister, also posted on X, describing the victory as a "triumph for women’s empowerment." She further commented, “Those who opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act have been answered by the people. From Stalin to Mamata Banerjee to Arvind Kejriwal, the verdict is clear. This is a victory of women’s empowerment. With Maa Kali’s blessings, Bengal reflects a decisive shift, a mandate for dignity, development, and a new era of governance.”

The BJP is set to form its first-ever government in West Bengal, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 9, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya confirmed this date, adding that the party had secured 207 seats with a 45.84% vote share, ending the 15-year rule of Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress, which was reduced to 80 seats with 40.8% of the vote.

In the wake of the election results, Bhattacharya condemned post-election vandalism involving BJP flags and warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible. He urged the administration to ensure law and order. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been appointed as the BJP’s central observer for West Bengal, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as co-observer. Together, they will oversee the election of the legislative leader and guide the party’s governance strategy in the state.
