TTV Dhinakaran Files Police Complaint Against Vijay’s TVK Over ‘Forged’ MLA Support Letter
Tamil Nadu’s political battle over government formation intensified on Friday, May 8, 2026, after Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) chief TTV Dhinakaran filed a police complaint against Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing the party of using a forged support letter from AMMK’s lone MLA S Kamaraj. The controversy erupted in Chennai amid the ongoing struggle to secure majority support in the fractured Tamil Nadu Assembly.
The dispute escalated after TVK released a video showing MLA S Kamaraj allegedly writing a support letter backing Vijay’s party. In the video circulated through ANI and shared by TVK leaders, Kamaraj was purportedly seen stating that he was extending support to TVK with the approval of AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran. TVK accused Dhinakaran of spreading “false news and misinformation” after he later denied officially supporting Vijay’s party.
Hours later, TTV Dhinakaran met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan along with MLA Kamaraj and formally backed AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami’s claim to form the government. Dhinakaran strongly alleged that TVK had submitted a “forged xerox copy” of Kamaraj’s support letter to the Governor while staking claim to form the government. He reiterated that AMMK remained firmly aligned with the NDA and AIADMK alliance and declared Edappadi K Palaniswami as their Chief Ministerial candidate.
The controversy has now turned into a major political messaging war between TVK and AMMK, with both sides accusing each other of manipulation and misinformation. Vijay had earlier reportedly submitted signatures of 116 MLAs to Governor Arlekar, leaving TVK two seats short of the required majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly. The uncertainty increased further after IUML reportedly distanced itself from supporting TVK, while the crucial VCK support letter was delayed amid intense negotiations over power-sharing demands.
