TDP’s Mahanadu 2026 Goes Fully Online: Chandrababu Naidu Adopts New Format

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is set to celebrate its annual flagship event Mahanadu in a completely new format this year. Instead of the traditional grand physical gathering, Chandrababu Naidu has decided to hold the event online as part of nationwide fuel-saving measures.

Mahanadu Schedule and Background

Mahanadu is traditionally celebrated on May 27 and 28, drawing massive participation from party cadres across Andhra Pradesh. Last year, the event was held in Kadapa, the home district of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and this year, Nellore was initially chosen as the venue.

However, global conditions, including the ongoing West Asia conflict, prompted the party leadership to rethink the scale of the event. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizing fuel conservation, Chandrababu Naidu opted for an online format to reduce large-scale fuel consumption.

New Online Arrangements

As per the new plan:

  • Only Politburo members will attend physically at NTR Bhavan in Mangalagiri.
  • Speeches and celebrations will be broadcast live to party workers statewide via giant screens.
  • TDP is setting up arrangements in 1,845 clusters across Andhra Pradesh, allowing cadres to watch from their local regions.

This modern approach ensures resource efficiency while maintaining the festive spirit of Mahanadu. Preparations in Nellore for a physical event were halted abruptly following the leadership’s decision.

Opposition Reactions

YCP leaders initially questioned whether Chandrababu Naidu would truly scale down a high-profile event like Mahanadu in the name of fuel conservation, expecting the CM to prioritize grandeur over strategy. However, the online shift has turned into a strategic counter to the opposition, showcasing TDP’s innovative approach in modern political event management.
