CM Yogi Issues Bakrid Guidelines
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued fresh Bakrid guidelines ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026 on May 25, 2026, directing officials to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state with strict attention to law and order, traffic movement and public convenience. During a review meeting in Lucknow, he clearly stated that animal sacrifice should not take place in public places and religious activities must be conducted only at traditional or designated locations. Officials were asked to strictly follow the Bakrid guidelines in Uttar Pradesh and coordinate with local peace committees to prevent any tension during the festival.
No Public Sacrifice Allowed
The Chief Minister instructed district administrations to remain alert against public sacrifice, open meat sale and any violation related to prohibited animals. He also directed officers to take action against illegal slaughterhouses and ensure cleanliness in all areas before and after the festival. The government’s focus is to allow people to observe Eid-ul-Adha peacefully while ensuring that public spaces, roads and common areas are not misused. Senior officials have been told to monitor sensitive areas closely and respond quickly to complaints.
No Namaz Road Blockades
Yogi Adityanath also repeated that roads are meant for public movement and traffic, and namaz should not block commuters. He said prayers should be offered only at designated places such as Eidgahs and mosques. If there is not enough space, namaz can be offered in shifts instead of occupying roads. Police commissioners, district magistrates and local officers have been asked to make proper arrangements near prayer locations so that devotees can offer prayers peacefully without creating traffic problems.
Security And Public Order Focus
The state government has asked police and administrative officials to maintain strong security arrangements during Bakrid, especially in sensitive districts and crowded areas. Officers have been told to stay in touch with community leaders and ensure that rumours or provocative activities are handled immediately. Along with Bakrid preparations, the meeting also reviewed issues such as illegal mining, land mafia cases, public grievance redressal through IGRS and CM Helpline, and weekly chaupals at block level to solve local complaints.
