Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad has dismissed speculation about a possible leadership change in Karnataka, saying the discussions between state leaders and the party high command are focused on governance and future political strategy, not replacing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala in Delhi amid renewed political buzz over leadership and a possible cabinet reshuffle.
Congress Focuses On Karnataka Strategy
Hariprasad said the meeting is expected to discuss Karnataka’s political roadmap for the coming years, especially with the Assembly elections due in 2028. He added that party and government-related issues, including internal strategy and governance matters, may also be reviewed.
Rejecting reports of a chief ministerial change, Hariprasad said such speculation is largely driven by media and social media discussions. He said Congress is capable of handling its internal affairs and does not need outside commentary.
The meeting comes at a time when the Siddaramaiah-DK Shivakumar power-sharing debate continues to remain a major talking point in Karnataka politics. However, Congress leaders are projecting the Delhi meeting as a strategy session rather than a leadership crisis.
