Sonarpur Attack Triggers Political Tension

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly attacked during his visit to Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He had gone to meet the family of a TMC worker reportedly killed in post-poll violence when the situation turned tense. According to reports, hospital officials said Abhishek was conscious and did not show serious physical injury signs apart from bruises, while Mamata questioned why he was kept under observation and advised medical tests if admission was not needed.
