Will Jagan Accept Sharmila’s Rally Challenge From Congress Amid Vote Fraud War?

In a fresh political twist in Andhra Pradesh, former chief minister YS Jagan has stirred controversy with scathing comments targeting Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy. Speaking to the media, Jagan accused the Congress high command of having a hidden truce with Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy share a direct “hotline connection” with Chandrababu, which is why Rahul has remained silent on alleged EVM fraud in the state.

Jagan’s provocative remarks prompted a sharp counterattack from the Congress leadership. Manickam Tagore, the party’s in-charge for Andhra Pradesh, dismissed Jagan’s claims and hit back by highlighting what he called Jagan’s own political connections. Tagore asserted that while Rahul Gandhi is waging a political battle against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Jagan maintains ties with Amit Shah, and Chandrababu is closely aligned with Modi. He challenged Jagan to prove his commitment to fighting electoral malpractice by joining the Congress-led rally in Vijayawada, spearheaded by YS Sharmila, against vote fraud.

By invoking Sharmila’s name, Congress has strategically turned Jagan’s attack back on him. Political observers note that this is a calculated move, as it is widely believed Jagan would not share a public platform with Sharmila. If he refuses, it may undermine his own accusations against Congress and Chandrababu. If he accepts, it could create an unusual political alliance, one that might surprise both his supporters and detractors.

What began as Jagan’s attempt to corner Congress and expose what he sees as collusion with Chandrababu may now be backfiring. The Sharmila rally challenge has put him in a difficult position, forcing him to either step into an awkward political situation or risk losing credibility on his original charge of electoral fraud. As the political heat rises in Andhra Pradesh, all eyes will be on whether Jagan takes up the Congress challenge or sidesteps it entirely, further fueling the war of words in the state’s high-stakes political arena.
