A tragic incident shook Greater Noida on Monday when a 29-year-old trainee doctor died by suicide after jumping from the 21st floor of a residential tower at Gaur City’s 14th Avenue. The deceased, identified as Shiva from Mathura, had arrived in Greater Noida with his parents just a day before the incident to visit his sister.
Police said that Shiva stepped out of the flat around noon and jumped from the balcony. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. According to family members, Shiva was a 2015 MBBS batch student at a private medical college in Delhi.
Shiva’s relatives told police that he had developed a mental health condition during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. This forced him to discontinue his medical training, and he had reportedly been battling depression ever since. Police confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene.
Shaivya Goyal, Additional DCP Central Noida, said, “A young man named Shiva has died by suicide after jumping from the 21st floor. His family was present at the location. Further legal procedures are underway.” The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the matter remains under investigation. The incident highlights the continuing struggles faced by many young professionals with mental health challenges, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic.
