Lufthansa Flight to Hyderabad Returns Mid-Air After Bomb Threat

A Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Hyderabad was forced to return mid-air on Sunday following a suspected bomb threat, aviation sources confirmed. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operating as flight LH752, departed from Frankfurt at approximately 2:15 PM local time and was scheduled to arrive in Hyderabad at 6:00 AM on Monday.

Shortly after takeoff, the airline’s crew received information regarding a possible security threat. As a precaution, the pilots decided to turn the flight around before the plane could enter Indian airspace. The Air Traffic Control at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was notified of the emergency reroute. The aircraft landed safely back in Frankfurt without incident, and all passengers and crew were reported to be safe. Security agencies in Germany immediately began a detailed inspection of the aircraft to verify the nature of the threat.

According to flight tracking platform FlightAware, the flight had been progressing normally until the sudden diversion. Lufthansa has not issued a detailed public statement yet but is believed to be cooperating with German authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly. Officials in Hyderabad have confirmed they were put on alert as soon as information about the threat was received. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India is also monitoring the situation closely, though the aircraft did not enter Indian airspace.

Passengers are expected to be rebooked on alternative flights once security clearance is obtained. Meanwhile, airport security agencies across both countries have increased vigilance. This incident comes amid heightened global concerns over aviation safety, and authorities have reiterated that passenger safety remains the top priority. Authorities are yet to confirm whether the threat was credible or a hoax. A formal report is expected after the investigation concludes.
