Sachin Tendulkar Dismisses Rumors Of Contesting For BCCI President Post

Sachin Tendulkar, India’s cricketing legend, has firmly dismissed speculation linking him with the position of BCCI president. Tendulkar’s management issued a statement clarifying that no nomination or discussion has taken place regarding his involvement in the upcoming elections. The BCCI elections are scheduled for September 28 during the Annual General Meeting, where key roles including president, vice president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer will be decided.

The clarification comes amid rumors that Tendulkar could be a surprise candidate for the top post. His management stated that these reports are baseless and have no connection with reality. Currently, Rajeev Shukla is serving as interim president after Roger Binny’s tenure ended in August, as Binny turned 70, the age limit set under BCCI rules.

The contest for the presidency and other leadership roles remains wide open. Rajeev Shukla is considered a strong contender and could either continue as vice president, be elevated as BCCI president, or assume the role of IPL chairman. Meanwhile, discussions are also being held about potential entries into the Apex Council and IPL Governing Council, with names like Anirudh Choudhury and Avishek Dalmiya being considered.

The last cricketer to officially hold the BCCI president’s post was Sourav Ganguly, while Sunil Gavaskar and Shivlal Yadav have previously served as interim presidents. As of now, with Tendulkar’s denial, the focus shifts back to political and administrative candidates as the cricket board prepares for its crucial elections.
