Wrong-way crash on Dallas North Tollway leaves one dead, several injured

Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the tollway near Royal Lane. Preliminary findings from DPS troopers indicate that a Hyundai Tucson was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Land Rover Velar. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and prompted an immediate emergency response.

The driver of the Hyundai Tucson was transported to a local hospital following the crash but was later pronounced dead. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Investigators have not confirmed what led the wrong way driver to enter the Dallas North Tollway in the incorrect direction.

The occupants of the Land Rover Velar, including the driver and passengers, were also taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities described their injuries as serious, though their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed. Emergency crews worked at the scene for several hours to clear the wreckage and assist the injured.

The fatal accident temporarily disrupted traffic along the busy corridor as investigators documented the scene. DPS officials stated that the investigation into the head-on collision remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Officials are urging motorists to remain alert while driving, particularly during overnight hours when wrong-way incidents are more likely to occur. The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash as part of its standard review of major traffic incidents.
