Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2026 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Captain Axar Patel cited pitch conditions and the advantage of chasing as key factors behind the decision, with both sides fielding unchanged playing XIs.
RCB openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt provided a steady start, putting early pressure on the Delhi bowlers with a brisk powerplay. However, Delhi struck back through Lungi Ngidi, who dismissed Kohli to break the opening stand and shift momentum. Devdutt Padikkal then walked in to stabilise the innings.
The pitch appeared slightly dry and on the slower side, suggesting spinners could come into play as the match progresses. Bowlers from both sides looked to vary their pace and use the conditions to keep scoring in check.
With RCB aiming to post a competitive total and Delhi Capitals pushing for control, the contest remains finely balanced heading into the middle overs.
