CSK Beat DC by Eight Wickets in IPL 2026, Samson’s Unbeaten 87 Guides Victory
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered an eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in an IPL 2026 match on Tuesday, May 5, at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. Chasing a modest target of 156, CSK reached their goal in 17.3 overs, thanks to an outstanding performance from Sanju Samson, who remained unbeaten on 87 off 52 balls, and Kartik Sharma, who contributed with a solid 41 from 31 balls. With the win, CSK moved ahead of DC on the points table. The five-time IPL champions now occupy the sixth spot, having secured 10 points from five wins and five losses in 10 matches. Meanwhile, DC slipped to seventh position with 8 points, having won 4 and lost 6 of their 10 games, including the latest loss to CSK.

Despite losing their skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, for just 6 runs during the powerplay, CSK never appeared to be in trouble during the chase. Urvil Patel, who replaced Gaikwad, was dismissed shortly after the powerplay, leaving CSK at 45/2. However, Samson and Kartik built an unbroken partnership of 114 runs in just 11 overs, ensuring that the required target was reached comfortably with 15 balls and 8 wickets to spare.

For DC, skipper Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 1/25, while Lungi Ngidi also took 1/30. Unfortunately for DC, no other bowler could break the crucial partnership between Samson and Kartik. The dominance of the two CSK players with the bat effectively sealed the victory for the team from Chennai. With the win, CSK gained crucial points and further consolidated their position in the IPL 2026 standings, while DC will need to regroup and improve their performance in the upcoming matches to stay in the race for the playoffs.
