Massive Belleville Warehouse Fire Leaves Residents Without Power

Belleville Warehouse Fire Recovery Costs Continue to Rise

Officials in New Jersey are seeking state aid as the massive Belleville warehouse fire continues straining emergency resources, leaving dozens of residents without power and forcing costly cleanup operations.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill toured the fire zone Thursday alongside Belleville Mayor Michael Melham as firefighters battled lingering hotspots inside the damaged warehouse.

State Aid Becomes Critical

Local officials said recovery costs tied to firefighting, demolition work, and emergency response efforts are growing rapidly. One major concern involves reimbursing nearby Nutley for the enormous volume of water used to contain the blaze.

Authorities warned that demolition crews may continue removing unstable sections of the warehouse through Friday as safety risks remain around the site.

Residents Still Without Power

The Belleville warehouse fire has also disrupted daily life for nearby residents. Officials confirmed that 51 residents remained without electricity as utility crews worked to restore service in affected neighborhoods.

No official timeline has been announced for full power restoration.

Firefighters Continue Battling Hotspots

Emergency crews remain stationed at the site as persistent hotspots continue slowing recovery operations. Officials said the fire has evolved into a large-scale recovery and infrastructure restoration effort involving multiple local and state agencies.

Authorities expect financial and logistical challenges to continue in the coming days as cleanup operations move forward and businesses assess the full extent of the damage.
