Asian Games 2026 Day 12 turned into a memorable outing for India as compound archery delivered three gold medals and Neeru Dhanda added another shooting title. Lovlina Borgohain reached the boxing final, while Indian squash and tennis players also made progress.

India compound archery gold medals lift tally to 10

India enjoyed one of its strongest days at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya as the compound archery contingent produced a remarkable run of three gold medals on Day 12, helping the country reach the 10-gold mark.

The women’s compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Taniparthi Chikitha began India’s golden run. After defeating a strong South Korean side in the semifinal, the Indian trio overcame China in the final to secure another major title for the contingent.

Chikitha returned to the field alongside Sahil Rajesh Jadhav for the mixed team competition. The Indian pair faced South Korea in a tense contest that went into a shoot-off. Chikitha and Jadhav held their nerve to claim gold and also secure an Olympic quota place for Los Angeles.

India’s men’s compound team continued the momentum. Sahil Jadhav joined Kushal Dalal and Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam to win the men’s team gold, completing a memorable three-gold sweep for Indian compound archery.

Shooting also brought another success for India. Neeru Dhanda partnered Kynan Chenai to win the mixed trap gold medal. It was Dhanda’s third medal of the Games after she had earlier secured an individual gold and a team silver.

Lovlina Borgohain reaches final as squash and tennis progress

India experienced mixed results in boxing. Priya Ghanghas and Kapil Pokhariya lost their semifinal contests but finished with bronze medals. Lovlina Borgohain, however, kept her campaign for gold alive by winning her semifinal and advancing to the final.

India also secured further medal opportunities in squash. The women’s team of Tanvi Khanna, Anahat Singh and Joshana Chinappa reached the semifinals, ensuring India at least a medal. The Indian men’s squash team also progressed to the semifinal stage.

In tennis, Sumit Nagal produced an impressive performance to defeat Uzbekistan’s Sergey Fomin 6-3, 6-2 and advance to the men’s singles quarterfinals. Nagal will next face China’s Yibing Wu.

Dhakshineswar Suresh was eliminated from the men’s singles after losing 3-6, 4-6 to Chinese Taipei’s Chun-Hsin Tseng. India’s N Sriram Balaji and Anirudh Chandrasekar also exited the men’s doubles competition following a close quarterfinal defeat against China’s Fumin Chiang and Tianhui Ziang.

Yuki Bhambri and Dhakshineswar Suresh remained in contention in the men’s doubles event, while attention later turned to the Indian women’s hockey team and its semifinal against South Korea.

With three archery gold medals, another shooting title and strong performances across boxing, squash and tennis, Asian Games 2026 Day 12 became an important day for India as the contingent reached the 10-gold milestone.
