On Wednesday, the Gujarat government carried out a large-scale reshuffle of 72 IAS officers, affecting several senior positions across the state's district administrations, municipal corporations, and key departments such as Urban Development, Tribal Development, and Industries. Among the key changes, Jamnagar Municipal Commissioner D N Modi has been appointed as the Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar. Kutch-Bhuj Collector Anand Babulal Patel has been transferred to the role of Commissioner of Schools in Gandhinagar, while Ahmedabad Collector Sujeet Kumar will now serve as Special Commissioner of State Tax in Ahmedabad.
Other notable transfers include Surat Collector Dr. Sourabh Zamsingh Pardhi, who has been appointed as the Director of Civil Supplies, and Vadodara Collector A B Gor, who has been made Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO). Several district collectors, such as Kheda-Nadiad Collector Amit Prakash Yadav, have been reassigned to key roles, including as the Additional Commissioner of Industries in Gandhinagar.
The reshuffle is also significant in the urban administration sector, with Junagadh Municipal Commissioner Jitendra N Vaghela appointed as the Collector of Gir-Somnath and Vapi Municipal Commissioner Yogesh Choudhary posted as the Collector of Junagadh. The Gujarat government stated that the reshuffle is part of its efforts to improve administrative efficiency and governance across the state. The notification was signed by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Anju Sharma from the General Administration Department (GAD).
